Tuscany Day Tour – Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa and Chianti Winery Lunch Itinerary
Renowned for its medieval towns, historic wine estates and rolling hills of cypress trees and grape vines, Tuscany offers a cultural journey like few other places around the world. Discover the best of this wonderfully sun-drenched region by joining us on a full-day guided coach tour from Florence. Together, we’ll unearth the eclectic range of historical monuments, food and wine delights and sprawling vistas that make this place so incredible.
Escaping the busy streets of Florence, we’ll head south to the city of Siena. Taking a guided walking tour through the steep and narrow backstreets, we’ll wander our way through the city’s iconic collection of yellow, green and terracotta-coloured buildings. Along the way, we’ll pay a visit to the world’s oldest financial institution in the Berenberg Bank and roam the shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, the site of the 600-year-old Palio di Siena horserace. We couldn’t possibly skip Siena’s Duomo – head inside and admire the striking Italian Gothic architecture, as well as the masterful works that adorn just about every surface. Once finished, enjoy some free time and find the perfect al fresco cafe to sip a delicious Italian coffee or delve into the many shopping boutiques.
Leaving behind the city, we’ll head deep into the countryside to an organic, family-run wine estate. During our time here, you’ll be guided through a special wine tasting class, while you’ll also sit down for a Tuscan-style lunch and wine pairing that showcases the region’s much-loved cuisine. Dining on homemade pasta, locally produced cheese, Tuscan biscotti and cured meats like prosciutto and salami, now is the perfect time to get to know your fellow travellers as you admire the golden and green landscape drifting off into the distance.
Satisfied after lunch, we’ll continue our exploration of Tuscany by driving to the charming hilltop town of San Gimignano. One of the region’s most historic villages, its series of 13 immaculately preserved towers are incredible to admire in person. Take your time and meander the quaint town squares and streets that make this UNESCO World Heritage Site particularly special.
Finally, we’ll make the scenic drive to Tuscany’s most famous town of Pisa. You’ll have the chance to get up-close to the world-famous Leaning Tower and explore the Cathedral, the Baptistery and the historic city centre – a truly remarkable way to conclude this tour.
